How it all started...
Foundation Christian Ministries began as a dream in the heart of Pastors Chris and Melissa Peña in the summer of 2000. As the Lord continued to build conviction in their heart through prayer, they became sure that the Lord wanted them to start a church in the Bastrop area. By the end of the summer, God revealed to Pastors Chris and Melissa what the church would be called, and over the next few months, the plans would be made for the start of the church.
In March of 2001, Foundation Christian Ministries held its first service. Unsure of what to expect Pastors Chris, Melissa and daughter Raquel were surprised to have 38 in attendance that first Sunday. Through much praying and humbly seeking the Lord’s will for the church, the Lord has blessed the congregation by consistently adding to its numbers. Over the course of the first year God grew the church from 3 to over 90 in average attendance.
Even today, the Lord is still pouring out His blessing. We average over 600 in attendance each Sunday. Our ministry has branched into weekly adult and teenage discipleship classes, Elevate that takes place on Wednesday nights where we continue to dive deeper into God's word. We also have Rush, the best youth group in town. Looking forward, we are more passionate than ever about being Christ-like disciple makers.
